♦ MIMO channel sounding requires multiple element antennas at both Tx- and Rx-sides.
♦ Real antenna array designs suffer from many imperfections.
♦ Especially if a parametric analysis of channel sounding data, e.g., estimation of the azimuth and elevation of multipath components, is desired, the measurement antennas need to be very carefully designed.
♦ Thorough consideration to calibration methods is a must.
♦ Realized and deployed antenna arrays are, e.g.
· Uniform linear patch antenna array (ULA)
· Dual-polarized uniform linear patch antenna array
· Uniform rectangular patch antenna array (URA)
· Uniform circular dipole antenna array (UCA)
· Circular uniform beam antenna (CUBA)'
♦ More detailed information on antenna array design is available from IRK Dresden.
