Motivation
♦ MIMO is the abbreviation of multiple-input multiple-output and designates communication systems with multiple antennas at both the base station and the mobile station. Large gains in spectral efficiency are predicted for this type of systems. That's why they are a real hot topic in communication research.
♦ The RUSK channel sounder hardware concept has been extended to enable the use of multiple transmit antennas also at the transmitter side.
♦ A new generation of the RUSK channel sounders is about to be released expanding the measurement capabilities significantly. [see Technical data]
♦ By using appropriate antennas arrays at the transmitter as well as the receiver, the identification of parametric channel models by using MIMO channel sounder data is greatly improved, because the path resolution is not strictly limited by one antenna's aperture.
